Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) will open the new College of Immigration and Citizenship Consultants in 2021. The college will be an independent institution designed to regulate the profession in the public interest, protecting the public and consultants in good standing from those who are dishonest and take advantage of the vulnerable.

The College of Immigration and Citizenship Consultants will be the official regulator for immigration and citizenship consultants nationally, and will be subject to close government oversight to ensure public protection.

A notice of employment opportunity has already been posted on the IRCC website to allow those wishing to apply for the post of Director of Public Interest on the College Board of Governors, this council will aim to manage the activities and affairs of the college.
